CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
|
|
WEIGHT TRAINING -
We start bright and early using the resistance equipment. Lynn will coach
you, if you need help. Start earlier, on your own, if you'd like.

CHOREO STEP – This
more advanced Step class begins with a 5-8 minute warm up/stretch and then goes
right into about 35 minutes of step choreography. This intense workout ends with
a brief cool down period and stretch. Come join the challenging fun!

LOW IMPACT AEROBICS
– This fun, fast paced aerobic dance class begins with a warm up and stretch,
then moves into 40 minutes of challenging cardio dance routines. This type of class makes
burning fat fun and fascinating!!

BASIC STEP – This
sweat-producing workout covers the basic steps in a basic step class. It is fun
and easy to learn. Lasting 45 minutes, it covers the same warm up and cool down
periods as the Advanced Choreo Step class. Come learn how to step your way to
burning fat & calories!!!

PILATES
ALTERNATIVE– Coupled with a lengthy time of stretching, is forty-five
minutes of intense concentration on our core strength
(abdominals, hips, & thighs). This form of exercise is sweeping the nation in
popularity because of its track record of success. With Christian music in the
background, you'll love how you feel! Come join us as we get
flatter abs, leaner muscles, & more flexible.

FIRM TO
THE CORE! - Get firm, flat abs and firm,
trim thighs as we work on strengthening the core of our bodies. Come join us for
35 minutes of simple, easy to follow, ’feel the burn’ exercises, combined with
10 minutes of stretch and adoration (to our King) that will certainly make you feel strong
and confident.

INTENSE-A-BALL - Challenge
those abs and strengthen the rest of your body using a balance ball. This
45 minute class requires the participant to call upon stabilizing core
muscles to not only strengthen, but also to maintain balance. It is an
intense workout that you'll want to do again and again.

BALLET TECHNIQUE- Although we love expressing and
"flowing", ballet is a great foundation of movement technique that improves your
posture, poise, strength, flexibility, grace, and balance. It also gives your
muscles a longer, leaner appearance. This class will begin with barre work to
strengthen the body. Then we'll do center floor work with adagio, tendues,
pirouette practice, quick foot work, etc. Finally, you'll enjoy grand allegro
movements across the floor and reverence.

MODERN TECHNIQUE - (Lynn style). Based on Martha Graham technique, Lynn has developed her
own style that is easy to follow, fun, and challenging for all levels.
Modern dance will strengthen your core muscles through balance exercises;
develop your coordination through across the floor movement; improve your grace
and style through the lyrical combinations. Occasionally, during the class, steps (to the dance that will be learned later)
are practiced. This makes learning the dance much easier.

REHEARSAL - We will be working on various
dances throughout the year.

ROTATING TOPICS: The topics on this page
will be chosen randomly by the instructor and .may or may not be covered in the
traditional way, depending on the number of people in attendance. Not all (but
most) topics
on this page will be initially covered during one week. During subsequent weeks,
the topics will go into more depth. We will be studying from Lynn's
(required) text
books.

VOLUNTEER AT DFH - To be a leader is to be a
servant and ministry is all about serving. Also, ministry is about 75%
administration, preparation, and work! We will give each student small job tasks
to help them see the inner workings of DFH and ministry at large. These could
include: printing, assembling, (publishing department), boxing products,
cleaning, organizing files, research & marketing on the web, and more...

WORSHIP & BIBLE STUDY - This will be a
quiet setting where we will go to a smaller room to be
intimate with the Lord and then hear from His word. Pastor Lynn will
be teaching the study about scriptures that relate to movement.

CREATIVE WORSHIP ACTIVATIONS - Just before
our worship experience, we will do some practical exercises to stimulate
that divine creativity resident with in you. Then we will implement them,
as the Lord leads, during the worship experience.

PROPHETIC/ARTISTIC WORSHIP EXPERIENCE - This
is where we will worship fully, with total abandon before the Lord. There
will be ministry, healing, prophesy, & deliverance experienced through the
arts. As Pastor Lynn hears from the
spirit of God, you will be guided into a realm of the Spirit that will
transform your life forever.

WHAT TO WEAR & BRING
|
| Weight Training, Aerobics, & Step - Wear comfortable
fitness wear (leotards, shorts/sweats, bike shorts, etc.) and have
good supporting cross training tennis shoes (preferably aerobic
shoes). You may want a small hand towel for sweat. Also, bring a
water bottle (no other beverages allowed in dance room) with
tightly fitted lid. Pilates, Firm to the Core - Bear feet
with same fitness wear
Ballet - Since this class is immediately after the
fitness classes and you'll be sweaty, it would be easiest to just
stay in the same attire. Ballet slippers required.
Modern Dance - Since this class is immediately after the
fitness classes and you'll be sweaty, it would be easiest to just
stay in the same attire. Choice of bare feet, ballet slippers,
jazz tennis shoes, or jazz shoes.
Rotation Classes - Since this class is immediately after
the dance classes and you'll be sweaty, it would be easiest to
just stay in the same attire. However, since many of these classes
are non active, you may want to bring a sweat shirt and sweat
pants in the air conditioning. Keep either kind of dance shoes
handy. During these classes, you'll be required to bring the
appropriate and associated text book, a small note pad, and a pen.
Bring, also, a favorite song for possible Dance Composition or
Choreography assignments.
Volunteer @ DFH - You may feel better bringing clothes
to change into. Something comfortable and casual for office duties
(on carpet) and tennis or other comfortable shoes for publishing
and product packing jobs on a cement floor.
Worship/Bible Study - Casual and comfortable
Creative Worship/Worship Experience - Worship dance wear
or something comfortable. Dance shoes. Small worship implements
(low ceilings). |
